Are you a street painter/chalk artist and looking for ways to make some money?  Here are list of 10 ideas on how to use your chalking skills and make money:
  1. Featured Artist - Get hired as a featured artist at a special event.  Let events know you are available and can travel to their event.  Most featured artists get their travel expenses paid for by the event, and some get fees on top of that, if they are in demand.
  2. Teach a class - on street painting techniques to adults and kids through a local school, arts organization or summer camp.  It's fairly inexpensive for the organization to offer (chalk, sidewalk and a fee to the teacher).
  3. Menu boards for local restaurant - you need to be really good with your lettering to handle most of these jobs.  They pay well, but can be difficult, since many of the chalkboards in restaurants are up high and bolted to the wall.  You may need to bring your own ladder.
  4. Weddings & Anniversary Parties - many weddings need directional signs, table signs, and other items that lend themselves to the personal touch of hand drawn chalk art.
  5. Murals - for local businesses or homeowners.  If you can do large scale chalk, you can probably paint with acrylics too.
  6. Renderings of homes - for owners or realtors.  These can be for the proud owner or for the realtor who wants to sell a special property.  A hand rendering shows it in a different light, as something special.
  7. Renderings of pets - pet owners LOVE their pets and will pay to have a photo reproduced in pastels so they will have Fido with them forever.
  8. Meetings & Conferences - AKA Gorilla Marketing - chalk outside of a conference to get attendees attention when they least expect it.
  9. Street ads - Local businesses will pay you to do an ad on the sidewalk to catch people's attention and direct them to the store with arrows.  Check local laws on what is permissible in terms of "ads" and words on the public sidewalks.
  10. Working for large companies at special events - This can be a lot of different things, but a custom piece of art, with a logo or chalk art of the company's product, chalked during an event, can be a big hit.
