Int'l Street Art Festival, Wilhelmshaven, Germany
I was honored to be one of 40 professional artists in 2014 and 2015, from France, Russia, Italy, Mexico and the USA, to attend this annual festival. Click here for more from this event on my blog post.
Sarasota Chalk Festival
Held in Venice, Florida for 2014, the festival theme was Endangered and Extinct Species. I recreated with permission, a piece by James Gurney's book "Dinotopia; Journey to Chandara."
The theme this year was Legacy of Valor, and the event was held around Veteran's Day. Denise Kowal, the event director, wanted someone to do this painting, "George Washington Crossing the Delaware" 1851 by Emanuel Leutze. The original painting is large, 21 feet across, so we decided to go bigger - 30' x 20'. I brought together a team of three award winning Florida chalk artists (Jennifer Chaparro, Beth Shistle and Janet Tombros) to help recreate this iconic painting.
We had three days, but the first day was stopped at 2pm, and we all covered up because of rain. It continued to rain until about 11am on Saturday. We finally were able to get back onto the painting, with some minimal water damage, on Saturday and work until dusk (around 6pm). Then we worked the next day from 8am until about 4:30pm, with the help of a few of our chalk artist friends (Glen Caristinos, Lester Mendoza, BK Lyons and Craig Thomas). THANK YOU - you guys rock! Lake Worth Street Painting FestivalInternational Street Art Festival, Sogel, Germany
I spent a week in Sogel, participating in the first street art festival in 2014 and creating murals in the town. My street art (all chalk) won the Public's Choice Award!!

Chalktoberfest
Bigger and better, the 2014 event doubled the number of professional artists this year to 40. The weather was not cooperative, but we all finished, and both afternoons drew appreciative crowds to enjoy the Halloween themed art.
Thanks to Will Wilson, the artist of the original painting, titled "Ivy", that I used for inspiration at the 2013 festival, and to Moore Colson of Atlanta, my sponsor. Winner - "People's Choice Award." Click here to see the video.
Lake Worth Street Painting Festival
The original art was by Christopher Still and was chosen by the State of Florida as the official poster for the Viva Florida 500 this year. I was unaware of any controversy with this painting until I started this work, and was subsequently heckled throughout the event by a group protesting the use of Ponce de Leon in the image. I refused to engage with them, and thought that was the end of it. We had heavy rain on Saturday night, but I had covered my art and was able to salvage most of it and only lost about 2-3 hours of work. Some lost all of their work and didn't return on Sunday.
Because of the rain, I worked all day Sunday with hardly a break to finish at 4:30 pm. When I finally finished and walked over to look at some of the other art, these cowards descended on my art, made a big ruckus, and proceeded to splatter and deface my art with fake blood. I thought it was extremely cowardly for them to wait for me to leave, and not have the guts to do it while I was there. The group, that I refuse to name and give any credit to, have a right to their opinion, but they don't have the right to destroy artwork, especially when I donated my entire weekend to this art for the benefit of the patrons of this great event. Clearwater Beach Chalkwalk
It was a blustery weekend for the first chalk festival down on the Beachwalk in Clearwater, with heavy winds of at least 25-30 mph. More pictures can be seen on my Facebook page. My piece, a reproduction of a vintage style postcard/pin up with dolphins added won Best in Show! It was 8' x 10' and took about 12 hours to complete. There were some great works and all the artists who stuck it out and finished their works were winners! CLICK HERE to see the video!

Pebble Beach Food & Wine Festival
Pebble Beach, California - Fifth Annual Food & Wine Festival (March 2012) - I was brought in to the Grand Tasting Event sponsored by Lexus, to create the art on the large 8' x 8' chalk board in the Intelligentsia coffee house area. I also chalked two large displays for the booth. The art, a reproduction of Grant Wood's American Gothic, was "enhanced" with a coffee cup and a Lexus logo - a new American Classic, and took about 12 hours to complete.
Chalk it up for Art 2012
Coral Springs Museum of Art, Florida - Winning art in the Professional Category on Saturday, March 10, 2012.
This was taken from an original photo by Laura Ferreira. It was about 6' x 5' and took 6 hours to complete. This was the second year for this event at the Coral Springs Museum of art. Taste of Little Italy
This is an annual event held at Traditions in Port St. Lucie, but a first for them to have a featured chalk artist. This is a reproduction of "The Madonna of the Rocks" by Leonardo da Vinci and was 8' x 10'. It took about 15 hours to complete. The salt pocked concrete was a bit of a challenge, but it ended up giving the piece an "weathered" look like an old fresco. Rain was predicted, but never showed up, and the weather and crowds were great. CLICK HERE to see the video.

Italian Family Festa
Tallahassee, Florida - As the featured artist at this event, I decided to do this reproduction of a masterwork by Guido Reni for the Italian Family Festa in Tallahassee. It was 4' x 6' and was completed in about 6 hours. The shadow you see was the only time the sun came out that day, and we were very close to getting rained out. We had a great turnout for this first time event, hopefully not the last! CLICK HERE to see the video.
Double Winner at Disney!!
This piece, 7' x 7', won two awards over the weekend at the FCAA/Disney Festival of the Masters - "Artist's Choice" and "Best Reproduction of an American Master". Original art was a painting titled "Hunter-Jumper" by Rick Timmons. It took about 18 hours to complete and looked like it was going to jump off the pavement. I also received my Maestro Certification from FCAA, the highest level of certification.

Feast of Little Italy 2011
Jupiter, Florida - Heavy rains, which were not predicted by the weather people, would not stop the completion of this work! I also got water bombed from a third floor apartment (first time for that!). Luckily, it didn't cause any damage. I also had many people walk across the art. But I also had quite a few people come up to me and say they were moved almost to tears, that it was so beautiful. CLICK HERE to see the video.

"I am Crow" in chalk by Jennifer Chaparro
First time chalking at the Denver Chalk Festival that was held June 4 & 5, 2011 on Larimer Square. I chalked an 8' x 8' square and it took about 14 hours. Crowds were thick all day, and they LOVED this piece. Many people said it was very powerful and spiritual. The original art was done by Kirby Sattler.

Original by Giovanni Batista Salvi
As the featured artist and judge, I was excited to help the Coral Springs Museum of Art with their first street painting festival. I gave a workshop on the Sunday before the event on March 12th, with a good turnout of adults and school kids. This was a short event, only 9am - 3pm. My piece was 5' x 7' and I finished it in 6 hours. Click here to see more pictures on my blog.

Cityfolk Music Festival
Carmen and Jennifer Chaparro
Hot weather prevailed at the 9th Cityfolk Festival held in downtown Dayton, Ohio. The event was a homecoming of sorts, since I lived in Dayton for about 8 years, and my daughter Carmen, now 16, was born there. Carmen was my assistant on this large piece. We chose a music themed piece by Caravaggio, which merges folk minstrels with beautiful Renaissance art.
This piece was 12' x 9' and also incorporated art by the local kids around the perimeter. Click here to see the new video by Blinking Eye Imagery. Click here to see more pictures of the kids art can be seen on my blog. Colors of Willemstad, Curacao, Dutch Antilles
I was one of 5 featured artists brought into this International Festival, held in the old part of Willemstad (a Unesco World Heritage site). We spent the week leading workshops for local artists and school kids (see pics below), then chalked for 3 days. The bricks were difficult and ate up a lot of chalk. This was my largest 3D piece to date (10 feet by 33 feet) and was all chalk (except for a base coat used as the primer to seal the bricks). It was an image I found on the internet, attributed to Invernalia (?) of Peter Pan and Captain Hook, looking up through the water. It took about 22 hours to complete.
